PERSONAL

Mr. Gideon grew up in the city of Covina, attending Bishop Amat High School.  He lettered in football, baseball, and wrestling for the Lancers.  After graduating in 1988, he attended UCLA where he earned his Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree, and Teaching Credential.  He also played and coached football for the Bruins.  Gideon met his college sweetheart at UCLA and later married her, the former Laura Ramsden-McAnally. They live in West Hills with their son Christian who attends Chaminade High School (Class of 2019) and Faith who attends Chaminade Middle School (Class of 2022).

BUSINESS PROGRAM

As Founder and Director of the Eagle Business Program, Mr. Gideon created the Introduction to Business and Advanced Business Management classes.  Opportunities for students to explore various aspects of business operations are provided both in and out of the classroom.  You can learn more about the history of our program, including performance at past competitions, under the History tab above.  

ATHLETICS

Mr. Gideon is currently the Assistant Head Varsity Football Coach, Special Teams Coordinator, and Defensive Line Coach.  He began coaching for Ed Croson in 2009  He was Special Teams Coordinator and Tight Ends coach for Chaminade during the 2013 season, when they beat Serra for the school's first CIF Championship and went on to win the first State Championship in school history. Coach Gideon has also served as Chaminade's varsity running backs coach and offensive line coach.

 

While attending Bishop Amat High School in La Puente, Mr. Gideon won the CIF Heavyweight Wrestling Championship.  He also played football and baseball for the Lancers.  In 1988, he was named scholar-athlete of the year and was inducted into Bishop Amat's Athletics Hall of Fame.

 

Gideon was a walk-on football player at UCLA, who later earned a scholarship playing offensive line. His story was referenced in Chaminade graduate Tim Lavin's book "Walk On U".  Mr. Gideon was named the Bruins Team Captain and Most Valuable Senior Offensive Player in 1992 after starting for three seasons.

 

He began his coaching career with the Bruins in 1994 and served as a graduate assistant coach of defense and special teams through 1995. In 1996, he joined St. Mary's College in Moraga as Offensive Line Coach and Special Teams Coach. He also coached Offensive Line at CSUN in 1997 and 1998. Mr. Gideon became a high school teacher in 1999. Since then, he has taught Business, Economics, Government, Math, Sociology, and World Geography while spending one season as Defensive Line Coach and Specials Teams Coordinator for Notre Dame High School. 

TEACHING

This is Mr. Gideon's 12th year teaching at Chaminade and his 18th year of serving as a high school teacher.  Previously, he was a Division I college football coach for 5 years.  Mr. Gideon currently teaches World Geography (9th grade) and Global Economic Leadership (11th and 12th grades).  He has also taught AP Macroeconomics, Business Economics, US Government and Politics, Sociology, and Math.
